RDA originally gained planning consent for a high density, mixed use scheme on this important gateway site in August 2007. However the subsequent changes in the global economy, together with the opportunity to considerably increase the site area, prompted a comprehensive redesign and a fresh planning application was submitted in October 2010.
The new proposals feature two sculptural towers containing 260 apartments, together with an Exhibition and Conference Centre, 90-bedroom hotel, multiplex cinema, a major food store, health and fitness facility, offices and a range of cafes, bars and restaurants, in addition to extensive areas of new public realm.
The proposals form a true regeneration scheme for the fabric of Worthing, helping to reconnect the station to the town centre. The project involved a comprehensive Public Consultation exercise and a series of workshops and reviews with the SERDP.          Â
